Self Portrait - 02.28.10

I finished up 4 days of shooting exercises today with Nashville commercial photographer Evan Baines for a national client. The final day was at the Green Hills School of Dance in Nashville. Being a dance studio, there are mirrored walls everywhere. It makes photographing with multiple strobe set-ups quite challenging, but it makes for some fun optical tricks too. I realize I look a total punk leaning to the side like I am in this shot, but I was trying to make it so you could see my reflected reflection. I post processed this with the Nik Silver Efex plugin.

Fire Sky - 02.27.10

I snapped this one out the window of my truck off Old Hickory Blvd in Brentwood today with my cell phone. Although the camera in my iPhone isn't as good as my point and shoot camera, it's good enough that I don't even carry another camera most of the time.

The Dramatic Chihuahua - 02.26.10

We were playing around with the dogs this evening and I grabbed this shot of Sandy. If you want to do a silhouette shot like this, all you need to do is set your exposure based on the bright background instead of your subject. I find it easiest to shoot shots like this in "Manual" mode.

Shooting The Shooter - 02.25.10

I spent the day assisting Nashville Commerical Photographer Evan Baines on a shoot in Nashville.  That's him behind the camera with the big ol' white lens.  There is all kinds of stuff going on in this photo. Be careful not to overlook the stud in the top right of the frame.

All In - 02.24.10

Our friend Nathan of Nate Post Design is renting out his townhouse and selling a TON of very nice stuff. He had us come over and take pictures of some of his furniture that he is going to be selling. These poker chips are for sale if anyone is interested.

They can't all be interesting. 02.22.10

When you do a picture of the day project you just have to concede that every day is going to have an interesting, thoughtful picture. Monday was one of those days. I spent the evening editing the photos from the Howie Day concert at 3rd & Lindsley in Nashville. So here is a photo of that exciting activity.

Irish Music in Tennessee - 02.20.10

Chris and Jana are in town (woo hooo!). We had a good dinner at the Mellow Mushroom and then headed over to McReary's  Irish Pub in downtown Franklin. To our surprise and utter enjoyment, there was a great duo playing authentic irish music. It was awesome. Look for some sample video's shot with the 7D in the future.

Driving Mr. Daisy - 02.18.10

I'm still mildly hobbled so when we've got to go into a store that is going to require a lot of blakley-speed walking, I've been waiting in the car. The following picture is a result of waiting in the car.

More Crossfit Awesomeness - 02.17.10

Ok, sorry for two back to back crossfit pictures. This one was just too good to pass up.  I think it tells it's own story.

Crossfit Middle Tennessee - 02.16.10

So I dinged up my right knee yesterday so instead of working out today I went and took some pictures while Blakley worked out at the Crossfit gym. I can't say enough about Crossfit and how it has changed my life.  I've already blathered on to most of you about it, but if you are looking for a workout experience that will challenge you mentally and physically, check it out. You will become a stronger person in every sense of the word.  Here's a shot of Blakley kicking butt on today's workout which was:

Row 500m
50 Kettle Bell Swings (53lb men/35lb women)
Row 400m
50 ABMAT Situps
Row 300m
50 Tire Sledge (hit tractor tire with sledge hammer)

Name that rusty stuff - 02.13.10

Anyone care to venture a guess as to what this equipment outside of "The Factory" in Franklin was used for?

Army Jacket - 02.12.10

This was my dad's jacket he wore when he was in the army. I'm glad I've got it now so I can wear it from time to time and think about his service to our Country. Thanks dad.

02.11.10 - Backlit Blakley

We went over to "the factory" in Franklin this afternoon to do some location scouting. I'm a sucker for backlight so when I saw Blakley getting ready to kiss a fish I snapped a pic.
